The Sherry Cobbler was the most popular drink around in the mid-19th century. Sherry was foreign, exotic and affordable, and ice cut from frozen lakes had become commercially available around the world. Add in the newly-invented drinking straw and it's Drink of the Day for the birthday of the man who created the ice industry: Frederic Tudor, the Boston "Ice King."
